St John's Well, Spott

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St John's Well, Spott as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St John's Well is associated with St John the Baptist, a popular patron saint for holy wells in Scotland, particularly those linked to healing and protection. Traditionally, such wells were visited on St John's Eve (23 June) for rituals involving water collection and prayer for health and safety.
