St. Donnan's Chair is associated with St. Donnan, a 7th-century Irish monk and martyr who founded a monastery on the Isle of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides. The site is traditionally linked to his preaching activities, and such locations were often places of early Christian worship and pilgrimage in Scotland.
