ST. BRIDGET'S HOSPITAL: LEPER BURIAL GROUND in East Ward Carrickfergus

ST. BRIDGET'S HOSPITAL: LEPER BURIAL GROUND

What is recorded here

Under East Ward Carrickfergus, lepers died alone and Bridget's name flew above the door like a promise kept. The hospital fed them, dressed their wounds and stopped asking whether their bodies still belonged to them. Burial followed without ceremony because ceremony belongs to the living. What is missing is not a gap, but the shape of the people who stopped being wanted.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ST. BRIDGET'S HOSPITAL: LEPER BURIAL GROUND. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
