Spynie Palace Cottage stands in Moray beside shell middens and scattered flint, a small human mark beside a much larger palace shadow. The cottage may have housed a keeper, a tenant or a worker for the palace estate, but no surviving fact names the person or dates the rooms. The shells and flint suggest people ate, struck tools and discarded what they no longer needed, while the cottage shape suggests they also stayed when the weather turned.
