Southgate Bridge, crossing the River Avon in Bath, dates to the early 18th century and was designed by John Wood the Elder, architect of the city's Georgian masterplan. It is historically significant as a key element in the development of Bath as a planned Georgian city and as a precursor to the more famous Pulteney Bridge.
