Smithston Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Smithston Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Smithston Castle was built in the late 14th or early 15th century by the de Smithston family, a minor noble lineage in the Lothian region of Scotland. It is remembered as an example of a small medieval tower house, reflecting the defensive and social structures of lowland Scotland during the late Middle Ages.
