Armadale Castle's porters lodge still stands on Skye, a small gate house built to control entry into a larger estate. It may have been crowded with visitors, guards or servants, though no surviving account names them. The castle and its history have faded from local memory, leaving the lodge behind like a threshold into a house that no longer exists.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Skye, Armadale Castle, Porters Lodge as Gate Lodge (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Armadale Castle on Skye was built by the Macdonalds of Sleat in the 16th century and later held by the Macleod family; it is important as a historic seat of the Macleods of Macleod and a notable example of Scottish castle architecture.
