No trace remains on the ground, yet the castle still stands drawn on the oldest county map, a phantom limb of Ballinree. The drawing suggests a building large enough to matter, but the earth has taken it back.
No surface trace visible of Loretto Castle which is depicted on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map.
