Ballynanty More may host a lost castle or duplicate a nearby record. Westropp linked the site to a 1665 peel tower held by Sir James White, yet no castle appears there on the Down Survey map. The name may have moved, been miswritten or absorbed into Moylish Castle.
Moylish Castle [LI005-050001-] described by Westropp (1906-7, 82) as following; '1665 It is probably the peel-tower of "Mollish" at Ballineaghtenmore (Petty 63); probably Mealish, held by Sir James White (C.S., xviii., p. 79)'. Moylish [Mollish] Castle depicted as a tower house type structure surrounded by a cluster of dwellings on the Down Survey map of the North Liberties in Limerick (Hib. Reg.). On this map the castle is depicted in the townland of Moylish in roughly the same location as Moylish House. No castle is depicted in Ballineaghtenmore [Ballynanty More] on the Down Survey map of the North Liberties. Could be a duplicate castle with Moylish Castle (LI005-050001-). Ballynanty More was likely a peel tower associated with Moylish Castle, held by Sir James White in the 17th century. It is remembered as part of the defensive architecture of the region during the post-medieval period.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
