Siege of Derry

siege

What is recorded here

Four months locked inside stone walls while twenty-one thousand men circled them, Derry became a lesson in endurance rather than heroism. Starvation did the work no cannon could, killing more than sword or shot, until supply ships forced the besiegers to withdraw. The gates that closed in panic became the reason the town still draws crowds each summer, memory sharpened into ritual.
Siege of Derry is a siege in County Derry, Ireland.
