Shivery Scar is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The cliff is notable for its exposure of resistant limestone strata, which have been shaped by coastal erosion and provide a local example of the geological formations characteristic of the Yorkshire coast.
