What is recorded here

Shiel of Castlemaddy still holds the shape of old fields in Dumfries and Galloway, though no date or owner remains attached to the boundary stones. The land may have fed children, buried lovers or simply resisted the plough, but the field system preserves more than survey markers suggest.
