Sherrifmuir is shown as a battlefield on the public map of Stirling. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
The Battle of Sheriffmuir was fought between Jacobite forces led by the Earl of Mar and government troops under the Duke of Argyll on 13 November 1715. Though indecisive in military terms, the battle marked the climax of the first Jacobite rising and demonstrated the growing strength of the Hanoverian government in suppressing uprisings.
