Why this matters

Shell Haven is a coastal rock feature composed primarily of London Clay, a marine sedimentary deposit from the Eocene epoch, approximately 56 to 34 million years old. The feature is notable for its eroded sea cliffs that occasionally expose fossil-rich layers, including remains of ancient marine life.
