Sheepfold

In rough pasture, on a N-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Drimminboy River and within a network of field boundaries (KE111-004001-). The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 5.8m) defined by a well-constructed, drystone wall (T 1.8-2m; H 1.2m) which is faced internally and externally with well-built, uncoursed rubble. The wall-facing survives best internally. The core of wall comprises stones of various shapes and sizes. Some of the wall along the NW arc is grass-covered. Both sides of a damaged entrance at N have been recently rebuilt. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
