Shanno Castle occupies a post-medieval township and field system in Glen Esk, Angus. The boundary lines and settlement shape suggest people lived there long enough to carve the land into usable parts. Whether the castle still stands or only its shadow remains in the field edges, the glen kept the shape of human ambition.
