This blue commemorative plaque records: West Runton Pavilion hosted concerts by legendary pop, rock and punk artists from Chuck Berry, T-Rex and Black Sabbath to the Sex Pistols and the Clash, before its demolition in 1986 Recorded plaque organisation: Norwich School of Art & Design, Eastern Daily Press.
The Sex Pistols were a pioneering punk rock band that ignited the UK punk movement in the late 1970s; Marc Bolan was the flamboyant frontman of Tyrannosaurus Rex and later Marc and the Magnificents, known for glam rock; The Clash were a formative punk band that evolved into a politically charged new wave act; Chuck Berry was a seminal figure in the development of rock and roll music; Black Sabbath are credited with pioneering heavy metal music.
