Seumas O'Kelly was born in Loughrea, County Galway, in 1881. He became a writer and journalist, moving between Cork and Naas before working for Nationality in Dublin. A British raid on the paper's office in 1918 broke him, and he died of a heart attack the same day. Loughrea gave him life; Dublin took it back within hours.
