Settlement deserted

In 2000 archaeological excavation by Donald Murphy revealed the remains of five corn-drying kilns (TN020-154001/005) associated with settlement features mainly of Early Christian date. Three of these kilns lay within the NE quadrant of the site. A total of 55 pits were uncovered scattered throughout the whole area, most of which were flecked with charcoal. Eleven linear features were found throughout the entire site, five of which may have formed some sort of ritual enclosure (a charcoal sample taken from one of these linear featurs returned a date of AD 261-428) (Bennett 2002, 325).
