What is recorded here

Seven stone houses still stand on the Noughaval slope, their walls built with such care that craftsmanship, not survival, seems to have driven them. One chamber held a 16th or 17th century floor above an older shadow of a room, suggesting the valley has been inhabited longer than its prettiest stones admit. The church and graveyard watch from forty metres north, tying domestic life and death into a single small landscape.

On a gentle S-facing slope in pasture, a shallow ravine running E-W immediately to the S, and within a multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). This settlement cluster (c. 120m NE-SW; c. 35m NW-SE) of indeterminate date includes the remains of at least seven rectangular houses (CL009-167001- through CL009-167007-) built of well-made stone walls, in many cases with large facing stones. One house (CL009-167007-) was excavated in 1991 and was found to be 16/17th century in date with a possible earlier structure beneath.
