Settlement cluster in Headborough

Settlement cluster

What is recorded here

According to Power (1952, 28) there may have been a settlement at a place called An Clais - the trench - at Headborough. It remains unlocated and was probably one of the groups of houses (WA029-062----; WA029-063----) recorded on a Bateman map. Power, Rev. P. (1952) The placenames of the Decies. (second ed.) The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
