What is recorded here

Meltwater carved the bog basin before people arrived, yet Drains Bog still holds the remains of settlement and cultivation from the medieval period. The site has no surviving name, no visible boundary and no account of the people who worked it. It is an anonymous wound in County Antrim where human life occurred, changed the land and disappeared without leaving a story behind.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Settlement and Cultivation remains. Recorded period: MED/L.MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
