Seán Mac Fhionnghaile

Seán Mac Fhionnghaile was born in Gaoth Dobhair around 1952, the coastal soil that later shaped his comic voice and stage presence. He turned a run-down local factory into a training school and production centre, proving that creative life could thrive in a small Atlantic town rather than waiting for permission from distant cities. His work in CU Burn, Gleann Ceo and Cois Cuan gave Irish speakers laughter and recognition, while his death in 2009 returned that brilliance to the ground where it first appeared.
