Schiedam

Protected wreck

What is recorded here

The National Heritage List for England records Schiedam as a protected wreck. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The *Schiedam* was a Dutch ironclad warship, launched in 1861 and lost in 1871 after running aground near Sheerness, Kent, during a storm. It sank with no loss of life, and its remains were later partially salvaged; it is significant as one of the few ironclad warships of the Dutch navy to be wrecked outside the Netherlands.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
