St Ninian's Church in Sanquhar is associated with St Ninian, an early Christian missionary credited with establishing Christianity in southern Scotland during the 4th or 5th century. Local tradition holds that St Ninian founded a church at nearby Whithorn before extending his influence to the Sanquhar area, though the present church dates primarily from the 19th century.
