Sanday, Chapel of Arstas

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Sanday, Chapel of Arstas as Chapel (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to Saint Arstas, an early Christian saint venerated in Orkney and Shetland, the chapel and well are associated with local traditions of healing and pilgrimage. According to folklore, the site was used for rituals to cure ailments, particularly those affecting livestock and children.
