Samuel Pepys PRS was a 17th-century English naval administrator and Member of Parliament, renowned for his diary providing detailed personal accounts of life in London; King Charles II of England, who stayed at The White Hart, reigned during the Restoration period after the Interregnum; Peter the Great, another notable guest, was Tsar of Russia and played a crucial role in modernizing Russia and establishing it as an imperial power.
