Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Rum, Kinloch Castle, Ice House as Icehouse (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built in the 19th century, the Ice House at Kinloch Castle on the island of Rum was part of the estate infrastructure associated with the Macdonalds of Sleat, who held the island during this period. It is remembered as an example of utilitarian architecture supporting the domestic needs of a Highland estate during the 1800s.
