What is recorded here

Ruecastle is a farmstead in the Scottish Borders, recorded without a date but marked on the official map to the nearest metre. It may have fed horses, sheared sheep or simply given one family a roof above the valley noise. The stones likely watched rain strip the border hills for generations before anyone wrote them down.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Ruecastle as Farmstead (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
