Rubha na h-Eala is a headland composed primarily of basalt, formed during the Palaeogene period (approximately 60–55 million years ago) as part of the North Atlantic volcanic province. Its notable columnar jointing and coastal erosion features make it a distinctive example of igneous rock formations in the Scottish Highlands.
