What is recorded here
This bronze commemorative plaque records: The electric light in this building was installed in 1930 in grateful remembrance of Miss Nora Bolitho of Laregan, Penzance, who built the Institute in 1911 and until her death in 1929 ever sought the welfare of all fishermen sailing out of Newlyn.
Nora Bolitho was a philanthropist who significantly contributed to the welfare of deep sea fishermen by founding the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen; she built the Institute in Newlyn in 1911 and dedicated her life to improving conditions for fishermen.
