Round Tower (Site of)

Round towers appear across Ireland as slender stone sentinels from the medieval period, yet this Galway site has lost its visible structure. The ground may still hold a buried foundation or scattered rubble, waiting for someone to notice the shape beneath grass and soil. What is gone can be imagined: a keeper climbing narrow stairs, a flame or smoke rising at dusk, a warning carried across fields. The loss does not diminish the place; it invites recognition of what the land once stood guard for.
