Round barrow 1/4 mile (400m) N of Lammerside Castle

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

No visible mound remains at that point, only a hidden chamber of dead people and the risk that curiosity will erase what little survived. The castle stands south of the hole, proud and familiar, while the barrow waits unseen beneath grass or soil. To walk past is not indifference but respect for the dead, who gave up seeing sky and keep their shape only because living people stop digging.
The National Heritage List for England records Round barrow 1/4 mile (400m) N of Lammerside Castle as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
