What is recorded here
Marianne Kayle farmed the land around the round long before law gave it a name. The stones sat inside her working world, marking water, weather or the boundary between ownership and memory. She may have measured distance from the round instead of the road because the round was the first clear point on that land. Listing it later did not create the round, but it stopped the round being erased when the farm changed hands.
The National Heritage List for England records Round at Castle Kayle Farm as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
