What is recorded here

Gallowhill still holds a 19th-century well house beside Rosneath Castle Policies, a small stone answer to thirst in Argyll and Bute. People may have knelt at its basin after walking the policies, drinking water that tasted of rain, rock and distance. The castle departed, but the well remained practical, giving life to whoever arrived hungry or exhausted.
