Roslin Castle was a nineteenth-century lugger working Stonehaven Harbour and the rough waters of Stonehaven Bay. Its name suggests a builder or owner proud enough to place a castle at the heart of the sea, but the ship itself was the real monument: wooden, busy, exposed to the North Sea, and answerable to no palace guard. It may have carried fish, stone, or people between ports, appearing and disappearing like a rumour in the harbour.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Roslin Castle: Stonehaven Harbour, Stonehaven Bay, North Sea as Lugger (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
