Rock art (present location) in Unknown Townland

Rock art (present location)

What is recorded here

Unknown Townland is an empty placeholder, but Ballinvalley in county Meath is where the stone actually appeared. A plough tore it from the soil, exposing rock art that had waited beneath ordinary farmland. The stone later reached the National Museum, carrying a fragment of human attention across centuries.

Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the rock art may represent symbolic or ritual markings associated with early farming communities or spiritual practices. Its meaning remains undeciphered, but such art is often linked to territorial, ceremonial, or cosmological functions.
