What is recorded here

Robert Stewart, 1st Marquess of Londonderry, died at Mount Stewart in County Down on 6 April 1821, returning to the very house where he was born in 1739. His life spanned eight decades of Irish politics, personal loss and controversial choice, including his refusal to intervene when James Porter was executed outside the demesne in 1798. The estate absorbed both his rise and his darkness, preserving a man who could be brilliant, cruel and deeply human at once.
