This blue commemorative plaque records: High Level Bridge. Robert Stephenson (1803-1859) was a prominent British civil engineer and the only son of George Stephenson. He is best remembered for his contributions to railway engineering, including the construction of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne, which exemplifies his innovative approach to engineering and architecture.
