This blue commemorative plaque records: Ware station. Built in 1843 for the Northern & Eastern Railway Company to the design of Robert Stephenson refurbished by British Rail in 1988. Recorded plaque organisation: Ware Town Council.
Robert Stephenson, son of George Stephenson and a civil engineer himself, designed Ware railway station in 1843; he is remembered for his significant contributions to railway engineering, including the construction of numerous railways and bridges.
