This green commemorative plaque records: Bishop Bridge 1340 The only surviving medieval bridge in Norwich. Robert Kett and the Earl of Warwick's troops fought a battle on the approach to the bridge in 1549.
Robert Kett led Kett's Rebellion in 1549, a significant peasant uprising in Norfolk against social and economic injustices; Duke John Dudley, Earl of Warwick, commanded the royal forces that suppressed the rebellion, highlighting the conflict between nobility and commoners during Tudor England.
