This blue commemorative plaque records: Novelist and poet Robert Graves (July 24th 1895-Dec 7th 1985) lived here at Vale House 1940-1946. Vale House (circa 17th century) was originally a farmhouse Recorded plaque organisation: Torbay Civic Society.
Robert Graves was a renowned British poet and novelist known for his work "I, Claudius," which offers an intimate view of life in the Roman Empire; he also contributed significantly to literary criticism with "The White Goddess."
