This blue commemorative plaque records: Scott of the Antarctic. On this site formerly stood 'Outlands' birthplace of Robert Falcon Scott. Born 6th June 1868. Scott died on his return from the South Pole which he reached on 17th January 1912 Recorded plaque organisation: City of Plymouth.
Captain Robert Falcon Scott CVO RN led the British Antarctic Expedition of 1910-1913, reaching the South Pole on January 17, 1912, only to find they were preceded by Roald Amundsen's Norwegian team; Scott and his four companions perished on their return journey.
