What is recorded here

Five burnt halls still lie crammed behind the crescent bank where Norman hands rushed a Saxon town into a temporary fortress. They lived narrowly, packed close enough to share heat and danger, until Lydford Castle took their purpose elsewhere. The ringwork did not fade so much as stop being needed, leaving its charcoal, grain and sharp ditch exposed on the town's edge.

The National Heritage List for England records Ringwork, castle, town banks, site of Saxon town and defences as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
