What is recorded here
In pasture 30m S of the townland boundary with Ballygubba. Within the excavated ring ditch (LI047-012005-), cut into Neolithic House Site 2 (LI047-012002-) and 30m W of excavated Neolithic house Site 1 (LI047-012001-). Not depicted on OSi historic mapping. The ring ditch was identified in 1989 during excavation of House 2 (LI047-012002-) by Christine Tarbett and Margaret Gowen and was described as follows; ‘The inner ring ditch had an external diameter of c. 5m. It averaged 1m-1.2m wide and 0.6m-0.8m deep with a very varied sectional profile ranging from a steep V-section to a gently sloping U-section. It lay beneath soils which were indistinguishable from subsoil with no archaeological inclusions. These have been interpreted as upcast mound material from the outer ring ditch' (Tarbett and Gowen 1990, 38-9).
