What is recorded here

The ring cairn and smaller companion stand 750m north west of Bumper Castle, marking Bronze Age ritual and burial on open moorland. Its pennanular stone bank measures 8m by 9m externally, preserving a hollow chamber where feasting, charcoal and death may have intertwined. The adjacent 2m cairn likely held a cist burial, while both face the Derwent valley and other hilltop monuments. A disused hollow way has bitten one edge, but the chamber still holds its shape against the sky.
