King Richard III of England (reigned 1483-1485) was the last Yorkist king and the last English monarch to die in battle; he is remembered for his brief reign and his defeat at the Battle of Bosworth Field, which marked the end of the Plantagenet dynasty and the beginning of the Tudor era.
