This blue commemorative plaque records: The Angel Inn. A gatehouse Inn dating from the 15th century. King Richard III received the Great Seal here 1483. Other monarchs stayed here. The inn was renamed The Angel and Royal in 1866. Recorded plaque organisation: Grantham Civic Society.
King Richard III of England, the last Yorkist king, received the Great Seal at The Angel Inn in Grantham in 1483; he is remembered for his brief reign and controversial role in the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower.
