This red commemorative plaque records: On this site stood the Royal Hunting Lodge of Beskwood. It was while staying here in August 1485 that King Richard III learned of Henry Tudor's invasion Recorded plaque organisation: Richard III Society.
King Richard III of England ruled from 1483 to 1485 and is remembered for his short reign and death at the Battle of Bosworth Field; Beskwood Lodge was significant as his location when he received news of Henry Tudor’s impending invasion, foreshadowing his downfall.
