Rhynie, Craw Stane

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Rhynie, Craw Stane as Pictish Symbol Stone (pictish). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to pre-Christian Pictish tradition, the Craw Stane is a symbol stone featuring carvings that may represent early mythological or ritual significance, possibly connected to fertility or protection. Local folklore suggests the stone was used in ancient ceremonies, and its name may derive from "craw" (crow or raven), birds often associated with omens and the Otherworld in Scottish tradition.
